After owning a few Hamers, I'm convinced they are one of the most underrated guitar companys in America. I bought this one from my friend Kevin who works at their factory. My dear friend Kevin has now gone on to be with the Lord but because of our friendship I was able to tour their factory outside of Chicago a few years back. I was very impressed with their suberb craftsmanship and their attention to every detail. They are extremely knowledgeable about the physics of what make guitars sound the way they do. This guitar is a solid-body archtop with a set-in neck. It is make of beautiful Koa wood which has a stunning grain. It plays incredibly well and has great sustain. The Wilkinson tremelo does a very good job of staying in tune, partially due to the self-lubricating nut. I have tried several pickups in the bridge position before settling on a Rio Grande Muy Grande single coil. The other two are Seymore Duncan vintage strat pickups. I wanted to get the sound of a humbucker in a single-coil sized replacement, and Kevin was very helpful in letting me try out several. I got quite an education! I finally gave up on the humbucking idea and went for a huge single coil sound.
